PERFORATED ARCHITECTURAL SCREEN PRODUCTS

When specifying Ariamesh Platinum ™, Architects and designers provide their desired image or custom artwork requirements including any details or drawings of the proposed finished concept.

We create the perforated image schematics taking into account factors such as back ground, scale and where the perforated sheets will be viewed from, based on this the images or artwork can be designed into low, medium or high resolution examples.

Ariamesh Platinum encapsulates many forms of media including photographs, logos, abstract artwork, silhouettes or a combination of these to add a uniquely designed facade to new and existing buildings as well as providing functional elements such as sunscreen shading, barrier protection and ventilation.

DESIGN FUNDAMENTALS WHEN
USING ARIAMESH PLATINUM

Perforating custom images and artwork uses different sized holes to vary the amount of open area in the panel which creates the contrast required to bring out the image.

There are several factors which can affect the clarity of the final product, such as the size of the structure, the background colour of the structure, the scale and ratio of the proposed image or artwork, the size and open area of the perforations, the viewing distance of the structure and much more.

CONSIDERATIONS WHEN SELECTING IMAGES OR DESIGNING CUSTOM ARTWORK FOR USE WITH PERFORATED METAL

  • VIEWING DISTANCE

Consider the most commonly viewed position when installed as each image or artwork will have an ideal viewing distance where it will be at its clearest.

  • COLOUR OF BACKGROUND AND FINISHED PRODUCT

Creating contrast of light and dark is what brings the image or artwork to life, considering the colour of the finished background, the colour of the product and whether natural or artificial light will be visible behind the product are important aspects to get the right clarity.

  • SCALE AND RATIO OF IMAGE OR ARTWORK

Ensuring that the scale and ratio of the image or artwork and the final size of the product is important to ensure there is no need to crop, stretch, rotate or dramatically resize the image which may have an undesirable effect on the final look of the product.

  • IMAGE QUALITY FOR HIGH OR LOW CLARITY

Variations in hole sizes dramatically affect the level of detail in the final product, images that use a higher level of colour and tone variations will use more hole sizes as opposed to a black and white image or silhouette. Digital images in either JPEG, TIF, PDF, or BMP format are suitable to use.

  • FIXING METHODS

When using perforated metal across a facade or elevation generally the use of several panels are required to “join” the image or artwork, considering the fixing methods and support structure behind can influence how well the joins are constructed to ensure the overall image or artwork is as seamless as possible.
